What's New with Rational's Requirements Definition and Management Offerings?

HOT! Read about our motivation behind launching Rational Requirements Composer 2.0.
This blog entry by Daniel Moul, IBM Rational Requirements Thought Leader, discusses the value Requirements Composer provides to project teams employing lean, lightweight requirements practices. Two key highlights of the Requirements Composer launch are new integrations with Rational Team Concert and Rational Quality Manager which provide links between requirements, work items and tests to ensure project deliverables stay aligned to current business goals and requirements.

HOT! Have you heard about Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC)?
OSLC is a new approach for software vendors and the open source community to meet industry demand for greater tool flexibility across the development lifecycle, enabling common interfaces to be provided by multiple tools. Rational intends to provide OSLC interfaces so, for example, a request from a particular tool for a requirement would use the same interface regardless of which product is being used at that time.

HOT! Visit 'The Evolution of Rational Requirements Offerings' webpage on ibm.com
for more details on why investing in your requirements is so important, and for additional information regarding Rational's requirements definition and management solutions.

Get involved in the conversation. Participate in Rational Quality Management social communities. Software Factory Quality Strategies
The modern software factory is an organizational structure that enables teams to collaboratively create and deliver applications and services. From requirements through deployment, software goes through a structured assembly that integrates and infuses quality practices to ensure fitness, reduce costs, lower risk, and accelerate delivery. This demonstration highlights how IBM Rational can assist software delivery teams address the challenges of quality driven software delivery.

MITS IA&E Rational Development Tools Team
Over 75 people attended a Keynote Address that was given by Harry Lee, the Director of Infrastructure Architecture and Engineering (IA&E) and 8 technical sessions delivered by IBM Rational and MITS IA&E Rational Development Tools Team staff. In Mr. Lee's Keynote entitled "Get Rational. Get Going." the conference attendees were encouraged to get to know more about the IBM Rational Tools that are available to the IRS and how to start forward momentum on their projects using the tools the way they are meant to be used. The crowd was especially excited when Mr. Lee announced that the green light has been given to begin the Rational Tools Upgrade for the IRS-wide Enterprise! More upgrade information will be made available through Project OutReach communications channels. Following the keynote, attendees had several options for breakout session. There were two tracks running simultaneously with a total of 4 sessions before lunch and 4 sessions following lunch. The technical session contents covered a myriad of software development concepts, tools overview, and software development best and worst practices. The sessions were presented by subject matter experts from IBM Rational and the MITS IA&E Rational Development Tools Team.

What Are You Doing About Application Security?
Webcast date: Wednesday, Feb 24, 2010
Webcast time: 11:00 AM EST
Sign up for this webcast»

Description:
If you have been ignoring application security, now is the time to get serious. With increasing frequency, data theft and application incidents are top of mind concerns for IT executives. Not only are customers demanding corporate accountability, but many regulations require full disclosure when there is even a suspicion of a security breach resulting in the potential loss of personal or sensitive information. The best approach to defending against an attack is to build software securely from the beginning rather than trying to bolt it on nearer the end of the development process.
In this session IBM Rational's Ingrid Eheler will discuss why organizations need to pay special attention of application security and explain how to integrate security across the development lifecycle using Rational AppScan and Rational design and development tools. We will also share real-world examples of customers who are taking proactive measures to defend against attacks at the Web application layer.
Speaker: Ingrid Eheler, WW Application Security Segment Sales Leader

Description:
The Rational Software Platform for Systems offers an integrated workflow across the development lifecycle for successfully delivering software for products and systems in an increasingly competitive world. Lifecycle collaboration is critical for success and for handling change and exceptions. But collaboration is challenged by geographically distributed development teams, working with external suppliers, and working across separate development disciplines. Integrated automated processes and new tools to support collaboration in this environment are needed and Rational has responded. This presentation will show how the Rational Software Platform for Systems brings the development process, as well as the developers, analysts and QA team together from requirements though test to deliver more competitive, high quality smarter products.
Speaker: Sue Green

Design and Automate Software Deployment

Description:
Delivering product and service innovation with integrated service management for design and delivery. Ever wonder how quickly your phone got you directions and downloaded your favorite tunes? IBM Rational® and Tivoli provide the capabilities to design and deliver increasingly complex system of systems projects along with the systems and application software critical to delivering a superior user experience. In today's interconnected world every service and interaction between the multiple systems and stakeholders needs to be managed, monitored, and maintained in a production environment with little or no visibility into how the ecosystem will evolve over the next few years. Current models of design, development, operations, and deployment simply won't scale or be cost effective.
Speakers: Seema Sheth-Voss, Brian Bryson
