GRUG Council Update - Rational Method
Composer (RMC) and Rational Team Concert
(RTC) Sessions at VoiCE
Carson Holmes, the GRUG Council President, was able to attend many of the presentations for both the RMC and RTC tracks at last year's VoiCE events. In the first session he saw highlighted not only RMC, but Rational Insight (previously known as Vega), Telelogic FocalPoint, and Tara, a new PPM product. The future integration of process, portfolio, and project management on the Jazz Platform looked very bright. The most interesting session in the RTC track (besides the futures brainstorming session) was where the Jazz Foundation Services hosted by the Jazz Team Server were explained to us as RESTful web services. Representation State Transfer (REST) is a key design concept that uses a stateless client-server architecture where web services are viewed as resources and can be idenfitied by their URL. This is some powerful stuff! What Carson had been most interested in is the future integration of RMC and RTC. Currently RMC 7.5 integrates with RTC 1.0.1 allowing process definition to feed the process templates in Jazz. However, Carson was excited to learn this integration will evolve with the next versions of RMC in which more process governance details can be defined enabling richer integration for more powerful process enactment in the Jazz platform.
