A word from the GRUG Council
Each year, at the IBM/Rational Software Developer Conference, a "Voice of the Customer" meeting is held with IBM/Rational product management to review product announcements for that years conference, new releases and generally to speak about the management of the product futures. During the Rational Software Developer Conference in June 2008, the Global Rational Users Group Council asked each of the IBM/Rational product lines if a representative from the GRUG Council could be present in each one of these product sessions at the next "Voice of the Customer" event. Thanks to the efforts of the GRUG past president, Glenn Stout and current president, Carson Holmes, the GRUG Council was able to get five participants to the "Voice of the Customer" event that was held on November 6th and 7th in Boston, MA. The "Voice of the Customer" events are usually reserved for a subset of customers only, so this was a big win for the GRUG Council to get a "seat at the table" to represent your voice - be it big or small. In the coming months, the GRUG Council members that attended this event will be relaying what information they can related to their product specialties. These events are covered by non-disclosure agreement which means that anything the GRUG Council heard at the event about futures, product direction and the like, cannot be put out into a public forum like this. However, our experiences, opinions and interactions with IBM/Rational can be relayed to you - our customers. GRUG Participants in "VOICE" Jason Steiner - ClearCase - jasonsteiner@bellsouth.net Carsom Holmes - Team Concert - cholmes@noblestar.com Martina Riedel - ClearCase Geri Winters - Requirements Definition and Management Tarek Nabham - WatchFire Please keep an eye on this space for upcoming "Voice of the Customer" editorials and please feedback to the GRUG Council what your thoughts are so we can better express your opinions in these sessions at upcoming conferences. RRC 1.0 was GAed in November, and now IBM is ready to show you the new Web User Interface (Web UI) component that is in the works via an Open Beta. This Beta will feature the new Web UI that works with Rational Requirements Composer, v1.0, Interim Fix 1. The Web UI provides a read-only view to artifacts that are stored in the Rational Requirements Composer Server. The Web UI enables business analysts, client stakeholders, and software development teams to review, comment on, and validate requirements -- without installing the client software on multiple systems. |
