IBM Rational C/C++ and COBOL Development Tools for AIX Open Beta Program
This program targets clients interested in deploying Rational C/C++ and COBOL development tools for AIX. This new code is an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) where developers can remotely develop, compile, build and debug applications on Windows while their sources reside on AIX. IBM has compiled a set of resources for each of the 60+trial organized into Learn, Try, Buy, and Support. Learn provides and overview of the product, Try provides way to download or use the product online, Buy gives pricing information, and Learn is a collection of technical content.
Rational News: IBM Acquires Ounce Labs
IBM announced it has acquired Ounce Labs, Inc., a privately-held company based in Waltham, Massachusetts, whose software helps companies reduce the risks and costs associated with security and compliance concerns. IBM will integrate Ounce Labs, a leading provider of enterprise source code security testing, into its Rational software business. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Rational Earns #1 Ranking in Application Development Software from Gartner and Evans Data
According to analysts Gartner, Inc., IBM is the worldwide market share leader in application development based on total software revenue in 2008. This is the eighth consecutive year that IBM leads in this space. According to the independent Gartner report, IBM leads the industry with 27.1 percent share in 2008, growing 7.9 percent as compared to the overall segment's growth of 4 percent.
IBM Rational tools also achieved top honors in the annual Evans Data Corp. Software Development Platform User Satisfaction survey. Rational was named overall winner, ranking higher than development tools from Microsoft, Oracle, Sun, as well as open source offerings. This is the third time in four years Rational has taken top honors.
