User Group Leaders

Find a User Group
Information about Rational user groups worldwide can be found on the individual user group pages. There are 3 ways to search for specific user groups:

  • Chose a geography where the Rational user group is located from the list provided. After clicking on the chosen geography, a list of existing Rational user groups will be displayed. Chose the Rational user group that you are interested in and click on it to be taken to the user group page.
  • Pick the area on the map where the Rational user group is located. Click on the "hotspot" to be taken to a list of existing user groups in the chosen area. Chose the Rational user group that you are interested in and click on it to be taken to the user group page.
  • Chose a Rational user group from the dropdown menu provided on the page and click on it to be taken to the user group page.

Join a User Group
To join a user group, a user is required to log in to the system.

  • For users with valid email address (login id) and password, login to the system and proceed to the desired user group. Click on the "Join this user group" button on the page.
  • For users who do not have a valid login id and password, click on "Login" and proceed to register into the system. Upon completion of your registration, you need to log in using your newly created login id and password. Proceed to the desired user group page and register to join as stated above.
When registering into the system and to join a user group, please wait for confirmation of your registration before leaving the system. Upon completion and confirmation of your registration to join a user group, the appropriate user group leader will be notified.

Attend a User Group Meeting
To attend a meeting, a user is required to log in to the system. Only, registered members of a user group are allowed to register for that group's meeting.

  • For users with valid email address (login id) and password, login to the system and proceed to the desired user group page. Click on the link for the desired meeting under "Register for Meetings"
  • For users who do not have a valid login id and password, click on "Login" and proceed to register into the system. Upon completion of your registration, you need to log in using your newly created login id and password. Proceed to the desired user group page and register to attend the meeting as stated above.
When registering into the system and to attend a user group meeting, please wait for confirmation of your registration before leaving the system. Upon completion and confirmation of your registration to attend a user group meeting, the appropriate user group leader will be notified.

Login
A number of functions in the site require users to be authenticated and log in to the system. To log in to the system requires a valid login id (your email address) and password. To create a login, click on the "Login" link on the page. This will take you to a login screen where you're asked to enter your email address and password.

  • For users with valid email address (login id) and password, enter your information and proceed to login to the system.
  • For users who do not have a valid login id and password, click on "Login" and proceed to register into the system. Upon completion of your registration, you need to log in using your newly created login id and password.

    Upon a successful login to the system, you will be taken to your "My Account" page where you see the following information:
    • a list of the user groups and meetings that you are registered for, including a facility to "Leave the User Group" or "Leave the Meeting". Please note that if you chose to leave a user group or meeting, this will result in your information being deleted from that particular database or user group or meeting.
    • a list of presentations that are available exclusively for members of your user group and links to download them
    • link to "Edit Profile"
    • link to "Join User Groups and Meetings"
    • link to "Logout"
When registering into the system, make sure you fill in all required information, marked by an (*) on the form. Please wait for confirmation of your registration before leaving the system.

Forgot password?
In cases where a user forgets a password, go to the login screen and click on the link provided for this purpose and follow the instructions.

User Group Page
Each of the Global Rational User Groups has a user group page that includes information about the group:

  • User group name
  • Contact name and active link to email - this is in most cases the user group leader
  • Cities covered
  • User group detail
  • User group web site and link, when available
  • Announcements, when available
  • List of and links to information on past meetings
  • List to upcoming meeting and link to registration to attend
  • Link to register to join the user group
  • IBM contact name and email, when available

Presentations
There are 2 categories of presentations that are available on this site:

  • Public presentations are generally available to all site visitors. These are presentations from IBM on Support and Service and Product Specific presentations, presentations from user group meetings and user group specific presentations.
  • Private presentations are available only for registered members of the user groups. Access to these presentations require the user to be a registered user of a user group and login to the system.

USER GROUP LEADERS

Leaders' Area
The leaders' area is a secure domain where only the registered Rational User Group leaders are allowed to access. This section is for the leaders to:

  • Create/Modify/Delete User Group meeting information
      Templates are provided for this purpose. PLEASE DO NOT USE HTML TAGS. The system will filter the tags and will display them as part of your content. PLEASE WAIT FOR THE CONFIRMATION THAT THE PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED before leaving the screen.

  • Create/Modify User Group information
      Templates are provided for this purpose. PLEASE DO NOT USE HTML TAGS. The system will filter the tags and will display them as part of your content. PLEASE WAIT FOR THE CONFIRMATION THAT THE PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED before leaving the screen.

      Get your meeting listed on the Events page by sending an email to rational-ug@groupintelligence.com with your user group name and meeting date.

  • Upload Presentations that are accessible only to the registered user group members
      Before your upload any presentations, please determine whether you want these to be viewed by the public or exclusively for the registered members of your user group. Only presentations that are exclusively accessible by your registered members will be uploaded using this facility. Presentations that are available for the public must be sent to rational-ug@groupintelligence.com to be published on the public domain. Please provide short description of the presentations, including presentation title, author and date.

      Templates are provided for this purpose. Upload times vary depending on connection speed. PLEASE WAIT FOR THE CONFIRMATION THAT THE PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED before leaving the screen. Failure to do this will result in an incomplete upload and corrupted files which will not be usable.

      Please note that the the upload facility has a limit of 3MB for the file size. The upload process for very large files take an unreasonably long time which causes connections to time out and the upload unsuccessful. For large files, it is advisable to zip them or split the presentation in several parts to adhere to the file size limitation.

  • Send an e-mail to membership list
    • You can send a broadcast email to all members on your membership list by going to the "Admin group members" section and clicking on "Send email to all members" link next to your user group name. Please note that the broadcast email facility does not have to option to add attachments to your emails, this is mainly for sending messages to the list.
    • You can also send emails to individual members by clicking on the individual email addresses on the list.

  • Send an e-mail to meeting registration list
    • You can send a broadcast email to all members on your meeting registration by going to the "Admin meetings registration" section and clicking on "Email members in this meeting " link next to your meeting date. Please note that the broadcast email facility does not have to option to add attachments to your emails, this is mainly for sending messages to the list.
    • You can also send emails to individual members by clicking on the individual email addresses on the list.
